ROB LAMBERT

NAME Robert Alexander Lambert (Clan Munro from my mother’s side!)
BIRTHPLACE Salford, Greater Manchester (my family moved to Aberdeen when I was 4 years old) – so I’m a proper MUFC supporter and used to the abuse!
PREVIOUS CLUBS No adult football club (only played rugby from 18yo onwards).
CHILDHOOD CRUSH Natalie Wood.
FAVOURITE PROFESSIONAL PLAYER OF ALL TIME Denis Law – the King (and Aberdonian!)
FAVOURITE BROWNS CLUB PLAYER AND WHY
Rod Fraser – nightmare to defend against, wonderful goal-scorer, and an another Aberdonian!
MOST DIFFICULT BROWNS CLUB OPPONENT
Rod Fraser – I can’t catch him – surely he’s not running?
MOST MEMORABLE MATCH
Top scorer (including the winning goal) for Tavira in the plate final at the last Brown’s WF festival!
BIGGEST THRILL Learning to tackle off-piste skiing earlier this year.
JOHN LENNON OR PAUL MCARTNEY John Lennon.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
Failing to score a gift of a try against France at the 1983 Hong Kong Rugby Sevens.
BEST COUNTRY VISITED Tie between Iceland and New Zealand – both magical destinations.
FAVOURITE FOOD Turbot – lightly grilled with a lemon butter sauce on the side.
FAVOURITE PORTUGUESE FOOD Sardines, grilled of course – best with side salad and Super Bock.
FAVOURITE DRINK Champagne – anywhere, anytime and much better if someone else is buying.
MISCELLANEOUS LIKES
All sports, BBQs, road trips, castles and churches, especially Knights Templar connections.
MISCELLANEOUS DISLIKES Cheating at any sport, queueing, asparagus, rap, losing.
FAVOURITE TV SHOW Any sport except darts and snooker (but they are not proper sports anyway).
FAVOURITE FILM 2001 – Space Odyssey.
FAVOURITE SINGER Rod Stewart (and Paloma Faith).
FAVOURITE ACTOR Tom Hanks (and again to be gender neutral: Meryl Streep).
BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON CAREER
My very first boss in 1970 when he took my wife and me to dinner at the very posh Waterside Inn in Bray, near Maidenhead – the first “proper” restaurant that we had ever experienced. He subsequently gave me my big career opportunity, barely a year after joining the company.
BIGGEST DRAG IN SOCCER
Player simulation and unruly fans (come on guys – learn from rugby or Women’s Football!)
WHAT ONE ITEM WOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU TO A DESERT ISLAND
Lily James ( and if she is not an “item”, then I’ll take a guitar with Bert Weedon’s instruction book.)
WHICH PERSON IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO MEET David Attenborough.
